The airport you choose will depend on how you wish to structure your trip. Easiest airports with direct flights from Canada are Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). Regional flights also fly into Florence Airport (FLR).

Getting To Italy

Rome (FCO)

  • FCO → Roma Termini → Firenze S.M Novella

    1. Take the Leonardo Express train from Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) to Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) station:

    Tickets can be purchased through the Trenitalia website below or in person at the airport. The 32 minute ride brings you to Rome’s main train station, Roma Termini where you will then take a Frecciarossa (fast) train to Florence S.M Novella station.

    * Be sure to book a frecciarossa train or the ride will be 4 hours.

    2. Taxi’s and Ubers are available at S.M Novella to take you to your final destination. If you are travelling straight to our wedding on September 9th there will be transportation provided from S.M novella or another central location in Florence to bring you to your hotel in Montemurlo. More details will be provided at a later date.

  • FCO → Florence

    If you choose to drive in Italy you will need to acquire an international drivers permit. You must fill out this form and present it at a CAA location.

    * You must be careful when driving in cities like Florence, Milan and Rome as they have ZTL’s “Limited Traffic Zone” where cars are not allowed to pass. Going into ZTL’s can result in many tickets and fines.

Milan (MXP) / (LIN)

  • MXP → Milano Centrale → Firenze S.M Novella

    1. Take the Malpensa Express from MXP to Milano Centrale

    Tickets can be purchased through the link below or in person at the airport. The 54 minute ride brings you to Milan’s main train station where you will then take a Frecciarossa (fast) train to Firenze S.M Novella station.

Florence (FLR)

  • There are no direct flights from YUL to FLR however there are flights with stops if this is your preference. You may also choose to fly into FLR if you will be travelling beforehand elsewhere in Italy or Europe. We recommend using Google Flights to see all available flight options for your selected dates.

    Taxi’s and Ubers are available at FLR to take you to your final destination in Florence (20 min). If you are travelling straight to your hotel in Montemurlo on September 9th there will be transportation provided from S.M novella or another central location in Florence to bring you to your hotel in Montemurlo. More details will be provided at a later date.

  • FLR → Florence

    Driving into Florence is generally not recommended due to Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL). If you need to reach your hotel in Montemurlo by car, we suggest renting a vehicle after your stay in Florence.
